Laura is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, specializing in treatment for LGBTQ+ individuals. As the owner of CT Affirmative Therapy, Laura has experience with a diverse client base, and has training that allows her to work effectively with individuals, couples, and families. Whether that is overcoming a specific struggle, repairing relationships, or managing symptoms, she will work closely with you in developing a unique treatment plan. Laura's style has been described as warm, open, and nonjudgmental. She meets clients where they're at and establishes a relationship built on honesty and respect. Since therapy looks different for every person, she will create a safe space for you to explore personal goals and to make behavioral changes that will bring out the best in yourself and your relationships.
Laura has a background working in a community mental health setting, providing care to those with various issues including depression, anxiety, life transitions, and family and relationship conflict. She is also passionately committed to working with those in the LGBTQ+ community on issues related to gender and sexuality. She graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Western Connecticut State University, and earned her Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fairfield University. In her free time, Laura enjoys spending time with her family and animals, especially her yorkie, Oliver.
